Welcome to the Hickory Run Chapter of NAVHDA International. The Chapter is located in the Allentown, PA area and will hold regular training sessions and testing events which are open to both members and the public. The tentative schedule will provide biweekly training sessions which alternate between Jim Thorpe and Reading and monthly weekend training at a variety of locations. Learn first hand the various steps involved in training a versatile hunting dog. NAVHDA training is designed to prepare the dog and handler for hunting and the NAVHDA testing. The training will include: pointing; steadiness to wing, shot, and fall; retrieval to hand from land or water; game tracking; gun sensitivity control; heeling; and backing or honoring another dog’s point.

Mission: The North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to foster, promote, and improve the versatile hunting dog breeds in North America; to conserve game by using well trained reliable hunting dogs before and after the shot; and to aid in the prevention of cruelty to animals by discouraging nonselective and uncontrolled breeding, which produces unwanted and uncared for dogs.
